I studied at Great Lakes Institute of Management which is located 10 kms from Mahabalipuram on ECR Road in Tamil Nadu. For any outing, event, treat or a party, there was only one location we could head to - Mahabalipuram.
There are a number of restaurants lined up in one of the lanes that heads to the sea. The entire place is crowded with foreigners. One of the restaurant is Le Yogi which is very close to the sea shore(2 mins walk only). I have been to Le Yogi several times and it has never failed to impress me. Le Yogi is on the left side of the lane if you head from main road to the sea.
As you walk up the stairs, you can see the name of special items and dishes written, one each on one step. That's creative and impressive. Once on the first floor, we are required to take off our shoes and get inside. Yes, shoes are not allowed inside. Not because of any holy beliefs but because of the sitting arrangement they have incorporated. On one side, they have wooden chairs and tables while on the rest of the floor, they have'gaddis' and small tables. A very different arrangement and it does catch everyone's attention. I prefer sitting on those decorated gaddis rather than conventional chairs and tables.
The ambience is awesome with open roof covered with bamboo sticks and herbs. Dim lights all around and oft music throughout. Moreover, they provide seamless wifi services too. Coming to food, there are a few must try items. Chicken Lasagne needs a special mention. They serve it with a piece of loaf. Also, Chicken Steak cannot be ignored. All these along with a bottle or two of Kingfisher really makes the day. Do visit if anyone happen to be at that part of the world.
