Beauty in simplicity. Review on Lafangey Parindey

I watched this movie by chance. Last weekend went to watch Peepli Live, but unfortunately it was not running in evening shows in Fame and the next show was at 10 PM. So I decided to check some other movie, hence went for Lafange Parindey with the sole purpose of time passing with a zero expectation level.  Pradeep Sarkar was really impressive in Parineeta but was awfully below average in Laga Chunrimein Daag.  So was not much interested in his direction also.

But to my surprise I experienced a really good time watching the movie. When I came out of the Cinema, there was a smile in my face and satisfaction in my heart which worth more than the ticket price. So for me it was a positive deal. I enjoyed the movie.

The story tells about a young woman Pinky(Deepika Padukone) from not a very well to do background but with a big dream, a dream to be a “someone” from a “no one “. Skating was her domain and she was sure that this talent will take her to the heights. In the same locality, Nandu(Neil Nitin Mukesh) lives with his friends. Nandu was a professional boxer who fights blindfolded and he has the ability to knock out the opponents in one single upper cut punch, he was called one shot Nandu. Nandu works for a Satta Don Osmaan Bhai and in an accident Nandu’s car accidently run over Pinky and as a result she became blind for life. But she did not know that Nandu was behind the accident. Her dreams were shattered. Nandu, feeling guilty, trains her to skate and dance as he knows how to use senses to fight blindfolded. This way their love blooms and Pinky’s love helps Nandu come out of the Don’s territory to lead a normal life. At the end, their struggle delivers result and they win the Talent Hunt and become famous.

This is a story which inspires people to never quit whatever bad the situation may be to dream big. No, you cannot compare it with Iqbaal; it was a movie of its own league. The story telling was excellent. Not a single moment of boredom. Acting wise both the main protagonists were very good. In fact this is the first time Deepika is able to draw some respect from me as an actor. In a very small role Key Key Menon was outstanding. I can’t remember all the songs but the title track “Lafange Parindey” by Mohit Chauhan was very good. As every movie is the director’s baby, Pradeep Sarkar really did a good job, he made a less star powered, less hyped, a simple movie a delight to watch.

The verdict is, it is not a very great movie, if you don’t watch it you will not miss something outstanding, but if you have enough time and money to watch movies like I Hate Love Story or Aisha you must watch this as this one is much better than those. It can be a onetime watch.
