While returning to Bangalore from Goa, the first city you encounter after entering Karnataka is Karwar. We were carried away by the road cut in between enormous rock cliffs, and the mighty Kali River following that; the watch tower atop a hill adjacent to the Kali gives a superb view.

The Warship Museum is equally impressive. We got inside the ship and walked around the open-air museum with reverence and were humbled by the efforts of our unsung heroes in the Armed Forces to keep all of us safe. Missiles and other military hardware infused us with a sense of patriotism.

In 1916, first Indian Nobel Laurette, Ravindranath Tagore visited and was bowled over by Karwar's natural beauty, they say.
