An Unbiased Review-IGNITE THE GARAGE (over hyped)

I own Maruti Ritz Petrol 2010 Model. Till last year it was maintained by MSM(Maruti Service Master – Chennai) because one of my friend worked there. Usually I handover my car only to him and he will do the work what is actually required. My annual service cost never exceed above Rs 2000/-.(I will replace the Oil & Filter at Shell and never do this at any MASS)


Since he was moved to different city and I faced different experience in MSM during my last service. So I decided to go with other service center. I googled it and Shortlisted 2 garages near my home




  1. Bagavathi Auto Works near Medavakkam




  2. IGNITE the garage. Akkarai






In the social media… IGNITE is rated higher and many folks suggested Raghav(owner of IGNITE) over Vijay(Owner of Bagavathi). Hence I decided to try IGNITE


Last Saturday I went to IGNITE… I reached the garage in the morning around 10 AM. I expect many cars lined up because this garage was rated very high in TeamBHP and MouthShut. To my surprise there were only 2 cars parked outside(1 Honda Brio and another Toyota Quails).


I met the Person(SA) Sohail and he said Raghav is on Leave(Don’t know that’s the reason for less queue) and will be available after 4 days. Since I did not have major issues with my car. I decided to handover my car with him for General Service. I replaced my car fender a week back at MSM and they cleaned my car well after the painting work. I requested him to exclude the water wash and Sohail agreed the same.


I told the below issues




  1. Out of 2 holes in the Wind Pump… 1 was blocked




  2. Fix the mud flap




  3. Fix the AC cabin Filter & Wiper Blade(I bought both from outside)




  4. Left door raddle sound




  5. Sensor replacement in Dikki lock




  6. “Cluk” Sound from driver Seat bottom when I do U turn




  7. Some Parts need Touch-up






Though Sohail asked me to leave after he noted the above points, I insist the test drive to Sohail before I handover for general service. During the test drive he said there were some sounds from wheel and he will check the bearing too. He said he will call me at 2 PM on the same day with estimated cost. Based on my approval they will start serving my car


At 2 PM, He called me and said, there were some issues with Caliper and it needs to be rebuild for all 4 wheels. The overall estimation is around Rs 6000/-+ Tax(close to Rs 7700/-) including Caliper rebuild. I told him, skip the Caliper rebuild. At 2.45 PM(In 45 Minutes) again he called and told me the service done and vehicle is ready for Pickup. As per Sohail the Service cost was Just Rs 2900/-


I really got angry because the quoted amount was very high. My car was almost perfect and they discover some new issues. I asked him to share Raghav’s Number and raised my concern to Raghav. We had a heated argument and finally I agreed whatever they said and took my car back. As per them, they did the following




  1. Oil top-up: I never requested any top-up and just before the service I changed the oil at Shell. They used 15w40 instead 5W30. When I ask this to Sohail he said in India we have to use 15W40 only. I told him, it is more weight than 30 but no response




  2. Coolant top-up: As per manual, The Coolant needs to be added if it goes below the low mark. Don’t know why it was added




  3. Brake Fluid top-up: Changed Last year, As per manual the Frequency is 2 year or 24000 Kms. Mine clocked 7500 Kms after last change




  4. Consumables:?




  5. General Service – Without water wash(as requested by me)




  6. Air filter Change: As per Manual, need replacement in Every 40000 Kms… for petrol cars and it was replaced last year






Now the status of issues I complained




  1. Out of 2 holes in the Wind Pump… 1 was blocked – it was rectified




  2. Fix the mud flap – done by IGNITE




  3. Fix the AC cabin Filter & Wiper Blade(I bought both from outside) - done by IGNITE




  4. Left door raddle sound – They said… it was corrected but for me still the issue is open




  5. Sensor replacement in Dikki lock - It was not rectified and no explanation given




  6. “Cluk” Sound from driver Seat bottom when I do U turn – It will usually come and cannot be rectified…




  7. Some Parts need Touch-up – IGNITE will not do touch-up painting work






Usually, After the service when I pick up the car from MSM. I realize some change in it. Unfortunately I didn’t realize any improvement/Change in my car after serving at IGNITE. I felt the car was parked some time and I am taking it back


Usually everyone will get the call from MASS for service feedback. If something comes from IGNITE then I will give the feedback “IGNITE is overhyped garage and not up to the mark”
