The Hughes team has got only one thing right. Catching hold of premier institutes like IIMCalcutta and XLRI to use their platform to deliver distance learning for working executives. However, the postives/good points end just there. They have zero/negative customer focus. They will call you umpteen number of times when you have to pay instalments for course fees. But if you have a problem God only save you. And rest assure that problems will be aplenty.
The fact that you are a working executive is thrown to the wind. By misfortune if you happen to miss a class the ordeal that you have to go through to attend a recorded session will be the first blow. Can you imagine there is almost no feedback mechanism to tell the profs as to whether their course material is appropriate or needs change. 2-3 profs are a shame in the name of IIM status. Mostly looks like they are not all motivated to teach via this medium.
To add to the joke the certificates(please note not degrees) are distributed 6 months after the course is over. Also they do all kinds of goof ups like missing out your name in the master database so that you wait endlessly for your certificate. Only way to know whether your certificate is posted or not is to call up a lady in Calcutta(wasting money on STD calls). She then despatches the certificate via courier(some God forsaken courier) that takes 7 working days to reach major cities like Bangalore. God save those who live in other cities!
The centre(the people who take your money, say sweet things to entice you to join the course etc) completely shrug off the responsibility and ask you to contact wecare@hughes.in. Rest assured only thing you will get by mailing to that id is an automated response that they have received your email. Nobody ever reverts back.
The whole program is managed in an adhoc manner by the Hughenet unprofessional team. Overall a sad execution story to a great Idea/medium.
