I had been to Kodaikanal on 28th and 29th Dec'08 for a short holiday. We had booked a room in this hotel online, we chose this hotel as we booked the room at the last moment and had no other option.
We reached on 28th, and got down from the bus near Zion matriculation school, which is one stop before the last bus stop as Hotel Mount view is nearer to Zion school. We checked in, the hotel staff was quite friendly and helped us check in.
The room we chose was Super Deluxe, cost 2200 Rs(season). According to the rate and grade the room was not up to my expectations. It was small with a double bed, tv, hair dryer a sofa set. Hot water supply was only up to 11 AM in the morning and then you need to be happy with cold chilly water of Kodaikanal.
The hotel has a restaurant at the first floor and offers variety of food, but a little expensive from the nearby restaurants.
As we began visiting the tourist spots in Kodaikanal we realised/observed that this hotel was far away from tourist spots compared to other hotels of kodiakanal.
If you are going to Kodaikanal, I suggest you book hotels near by the Kodaikanal Lake as you can take a walk anytime during your stay to lake and other nearby tourist spot. And moreover you will find many restaurants nearby the lake.
Hence my conclusion is Hotel Mount View is a good hotel, but location wise others are much better, as after all most of you will visit Kodaikanal for a romantic honeymoon or a great holiday, and staying closing to tourist places is always better.
