Today when I clicked on Mouthshut, before I could select any review worth reading Kat sweetheart popped out from everywhere with a Kodak in her Veet beautified hands! And the first thought that came to my mind was that Mouthshut has been able to grab a fantastic business with Kodak and vice-versa, Kodak has grabbed a superb deal from Mouthshut people and it is leveraging the site to the maximum! Sometimes on the cost of netizens’ comfort on the other we find this useful too! It’s ofcourse one’s personal discretion because here you don’t have the leisure of a remote to switch the page off, till the banner is gone, because its here to stay, for a month or the total flashes Kodak has bargained with MS.
Advertising is all about innovation, but in the race to innovate we(I belong from the same fraternity) tend to forget the netizens’ convenience. Every time I tried to read review, then went to comment, Katerina darling tried to woo me with her camera tricks. So I could not concentrate neither on reviews, nor much about my comments.
Another classic example of an irritating web advertising was by Industry’s best, “Fevicol” every time we clicked on a site something sticky used to cling to your mouse, and when you try to get away with the sticky thing, a pop up- “ye fevicol ka jod hai chhutegaa nahi” you are helpless with it, smile or scream at it? You have already wasted five minutes struggling with that stupid thing and when u give up the cross button appears click here to close. Someone poking in your nose for your attention!
Our friends inside the industry laugh and giggle about the craziness of the idea and praise the guys who developed it but hello is someone concerned about the consumer too! What the heck! Who are these species? Only thing in they are concerned about, is to win a lion gold at a famous advertising meet!
But tell me friends aren’t you people have been now well accustomed to our tricks? The funniest commercial is a topic of your gossips at any party or get-togethers, you boast about your knowledge of understanding and appreciating a crazy concept among your friends and peers. A sizeable of my friends who belong from other industries, always showoff grey cell in their head and discuss with me about advertising and which one he liked most and why! Perhaps they vent out their aggression of not being in media. But take my words media has its greasy side too it’s not always pomp and show and glamour, we as an insider call it “the most thankless industry”! And sure it is.
So till the time no one complaining Kat darling will keep doing her tricks and one more Fevicoler will vie for your 14” inch screen space! Any comments?
