Hi Friends,
Today I will impart and share useful information with all of you by writing a review on a very useful book named “Freedom from Cervical and back pain-The Natural Way”.The author of the book, Shri M.K.Gupta is an engineer by profession but has studied and practiced Yoga extensively and has won accolades and many appreciation certificates for his Yoga study. He has attended many Yoga camps, visited many Yoga centres, interacted with many yoga experts and has made in-depth scientific studies and analysis about the effect of yogic exercises in the treatment of various ailments. He has written many other books related to physical and mental health. The publishers of this book are Pustak Mahal based in Delhi and the price of the book is a reasonable Rs-60/- only.
Four years back I was diagnosed with cervical spondylitis by an orthopaedic surgeon. He gave me some medicines for subsiding the unbearable pain and asked me to follow it’s 10 day course. He then advised me to buy this book and follow the exercise regime depicted in it after I am totally relieved from the pain so that I may be able to keep the pain away from resurfacing again as there is no permanent cure for any type of spondylitis in Allopathy. I followed the doctor"s advice and bought this book from a book store and thereafter when my pain got relieved fully, I read the book and started doing the exercises mentioned in it and believe me that I regularly do these exercises only for 5to 10 minutes everyday till today and since then I have never experienced any pain till now regarding my neck, back and spine. The ways in which the exercises are shown scientifically and methodically in the book with illustrative pictures is very commendable.
The book in whole has 18 chapters spanning to127 pages starting from introduction of backache and cervical pain and it’s causes and thereon various correct and wrong postures are illustrated which shows the benefits and harm respectively of various human postures. Descriptions of a human back and spine, muscles associated with the back, muscles acting at the hip joint, defects in the curvature of the spine and the muscles associated with neck movement, all these are aptly narrated to provide information to the reader in general.
Many chapters depict the various exercises pertaining to loosening of a stiff neck, shoulders, lower and upper stiff back and also for relaxing it, way of massage for relaxing it, how to strengthen the neck and it"s associated muscles, in-depth analysis of cervical spondylitis,it”s causes and conservative treatments of it and exercises to be followed for avoiding it,strengthening of the abdominal and back muscles and general exercises for a healthy and flexible spine. There is also a chapter dedicated to the treatment for slip disc and sciatica in which the author has illustrated the various alternative possibilities and exercises for treatment of it.
The author has mentioned in the beginning to consult a doctor before doing these exercises for persons who have undergone degenerative and irreversible structural changes of the body. Persons who have undergone any surgery or have been operated upon for any ailments are advised to consult a doctor before commencing any of the exercises shown in the book. My doctor too advised me to never do the exercises when suffering from any pains. You should commence the exercises and do it only when you are free from any type of pains. For normal persons though, all these exercises are very simple and light and doing these will benefit them nicely in the future regarding these particular problems as mentioned above in the review.
I strongly recommend this book to all friends suffering from the above ailments and to those friends too who are not affected by these ailments but want to avoid it from happening to them by following the good and nice all round information and exercises depicted in the book as it is very well said that “Prevention is better than cure”.
