I was using Wagon R and was happy about it
Despite of using it roughly and testing it to its extremes it was satisfactory, but the driver in me was not challenged by the limitations it offered especially its handling was too risky for my way of driving
Thus one fine day(3 weeks back), I decided why not buy a new car especially since lots of stuff was available with all tall claims by manufacturers
First 2-3 Days: I finalized that I will buy a sedan and only a diesel one(Have driven diesel cars mostly, besides Diesel is cheaper fuel, though initial costs will to own one will be high) .
I initially thought to buy Tata Manza(Was diesel, loaded with features and cheaper as well)
But the feedback I received from my good friends was not so good, they were like don't buy a tata product
Finally I almost made my mind to buy Hyundai Verna SX Diesel, the story about its handling though was cause of concern, as it was supposedly very fast car with good acceleration but not so great handling
Finally after some research and reading some blogs in(TBHP, Gaadi, Zigwheels etc.) I decided to buy a 1.3 Multi Jet Linea Emotion PK
Few observations are:
The car is gorgeous and has excellent handling in corners and sharp turns, turning at speeds close to 100kmph in sharp flyways(35-60 degree turns) here in Delhi has been done many times using single hand(Though I must admit I consider myself at least in 90 percentile in terms of basic driving skills:-))
The driving pleasure gets killed in 1st and to some extent 2nd gear donno why they cant improve than enough has been said so wont say more, rather would suggest keep driving this vehicle in 3rd -4th- 5th gear as much as possible above 1500 RPM
It eats all path holes and bad patches nicely, a friend of mine has Audi A6 and its say 20% better than Linea with respect performance on bad roads, chassis is superb and not soft and bouncy like many other cars
Am getting 11kmpl and I hope will get more once engine is streamlined and opens up a bit more, especially after couple of services and oil changes
Good highway car, gives confidence at high speeds even at 140-150, very good breaking in ABS versions at least, seating comfort is average it has got nice firm seats, features are plenty, I bought PK version because of only 2 reasons 1) Airbags & 2) Alloy Wheels
Blue n me n all I anyways don;t bother they will rub off once the novelty effect sinks in
In nut shell if you want anything great driving experience don't buy it, go for VW Vento or Hyundai instead
If better handling and looks are main attributes that decide you intention to purchase, just go for it, forget things like resale, service bla bla, pow pow.
Happy Motoring.
