D-Mart stores in Thane situated on Glady Alwares Road near Chestnut Plaza was one of a kind departmental stores which opened in Thane to cater to the people living nearby. It was initially a boon to customers including me with a one stop shopping experience where you could buy anything from daily groceries to clothes to cosmetics to vegetables/fruits and a lots more products including utensils, plastics etc. the staff was also good and courteous and the prices fit into everybodies pockets. As the days went by the popularity went tot he heads of the Stores managment and these days the service has become worst. I have listed below the pain points which I encounter everytime I go there.
1) The daily grocery items are unavailable most of the time. There is no information as to the availability of products. The shelves where the items are missing do no have any tags whether they are available or not.
2) Cramped shelves: The Shelves are more often cramped with different items. It is also found that the items are interchanged from their original space on the shelves which cause a lot of confusion.
3) Unequal availability: Some of the items are large in qty whereas others are lesser. There is an overflow in some cases. Typical egs are of sugar packets, Salt etc.
4) Rude Staff: The Staff are rarely available when required fro any assistance. And when they are available they reply curtly and arrogantly when asked for any help. The staff is prominently missing on Sat and Sun when there is a huge crowd.
5) On/Off functioning of AC: Rarely have I seen the AC functioning properly. On Sat & Sun in particular they are switched off to let people sweat under the asbestos roof.
6) Car Parking: The Car parking attendants often dont know where to direct the customers for car parking. The cars are parked haphazardly and often people end up waiting for other car owners to come before they can drive off. There is no announcement facility to help in this case. Adding to the parking woes are the Rickshaws who manage to occupy the slighest space available to choke the traffic movement.
There are some bright things to look also
1) There is an old charm/attraction which draws me everytime to this stores.
2) The clothes available in the stores are always changing and you can see some new designs
3) The cost is very competetive when compared to Big Bazaar, Reliance and other stores.
4) Convinient location.
I hope the stores management do something to resolve the pain points and ensure the customers have a true good shopping experience with the stores.
