Experienced live situation of how doctors save life! The best ICU and HDU team we have experienced ever.
My mother(age 54) suddenly had severe headache and nonstop vomiting, hence we had went to Columbia Asia under emergency. Within next few minutes(less than 5 mins), the Emergency team took control of the situation along with several doctors and nurses. In half an hour, they suggested us to go for a MRI scan, where it was detected that she is diagnosed with brain haemorrhage. Yes, it is one of the shocking, threatening and life changing moment. We were not prepared. We never expected this. I appreciate the way doctor informed us the news.(We had double checked, took a quick opinion from our family doctor at native place and he also confirmed the same). Within an hour, she was in HDU(highly dependant unit) and treatment started immediately. I should say that it was extremely stressful time for the entire family. But when we entered into ICU during visiting hours, mom used to say that she is taken very good care, nurses are treating her like their mother, they dont make her feel uncomfortable. Cafeteria people is on time providing food when ever she needs. Doctors do a regular timely visit. Even the equipments are brilliant with awesome facility. Automatic alarms when drips are about to get over, automated BP, pulse recorder. We did not have any pressure to prepare food for her. The patient's relative waiting lounge was comfortable with recliner chairs and charging points. Look at the extent to which they have designed the hospital, keeping in mind the requirements of even relatives waiting lounge. Hats off!
Within 2 days mom was shifted to normal ward, the care continued. One day later, she got discharged. Before discharge, the nurses gave a clear explanation of post discharge care. Dietician, physiotherapist also gave their resp. charts.
This hospital has the best doctors! Dr Nithin kumar, Neuro specialist - a wise and quick decision maker. Excellent observer who gave brilliant treatment of course.
ICU, HDU head Dr Ram and his team - I can just recall the ads where you see patients coming and nurses and doctors will receive the patient with care and say "We are there to save and help" and there they will publish the hospital name. Here, it was just a live streaming of the same situation. ICU patients get "care" as their first medicine which is a prime reason for quick recovery.
Last but not least, the day of discharge was my parent's wedding anniversary. One side, we were happy that mom was better and getting discharged, other side with a feeling that this year wedding day is at hospital. Once the hospital authorities heard that it was their wedding anniversary, they had planned for a cake cutting, claps, a mini celebration during discharge. What an emotional thankful moment for us!
Waiting extra time to meet the doctor / computer not working for an hour to generate a report - such kind of things are common and normal in any hospital. It can happen due to an emergency / a technical issue. What is important in a hospital is to provide trustworthy treatment and quick recovery with care. And that is Columbia asia white field!
Thank you Columbia asia(Whitefield) for the magic you all did in our life!
