We recently had the opportunity to try a demo session for our 5-year-old, and I would like to share some constructive feedback. While the ad shows how a maths genius will teach his unique technique, it appears there is a disconnect between the marketing and the actual delivery. The expectations set by the promotional content were not met during our experience.
The demo teacher seemed unfamiliar with the needs of students from diverse backgrounds and global markets. The session lacked structure, with random questions being directed at children of different ages, making it difficult for them to feel comfortable. At one point, our child, who is excelling according to his school's reports, was asked to 'sequence numbers, ' which is not typical for Australian 5-year-olds who are still transitioning from early childhood education. In Australia, the focus at this stage is on emotional regulation, ethics, and social skills rather than formal academics, which differs from other educational systems like India’s.
The teacher appeared unprepared and struggled to adjust her approach despite feedback. In Australia, educators use simple language with plenty of repetition to ensure comprehension. Although we were able to guide our child through the activity, this experience highlighted the program's lack of alignment with Western educational philosophies.
While the program may be suitable for students in India, it is not a good fit for those in Australia or similar educational environments. Ultimately, we opted for a local program better suited to our child’s needs.
