Well I have read a lot of negative reviews on iPhone & have heard people cursing the iPhone (though many of them must have never even used 1). However I feel these negative remarks are by people who either haven't used it or don't know how to use it.
I have been using an iPhone since more than 3 years now & it's undoubtedly the best. I got my 1st iPhone in my college days. It was gifted to me by my sis. The first model of iPhone (2G). Used it for almost 2 years when it was stolen. Got another one (same model) & it got spoiled due to water. Then Finally in March 2011 I got iPhone 3 Gs.Got it through a friend from UK.
I jailbreak-ed it myself & started using it with. Now that's my story with iPhone. Let me tell you a few things about the phone now.
1.Looks:
iPhone has got killer looks. A good 3.5 inch display with a metal finish & a black back. A small camera on the back with the Apple logo. It won't let you down in making a style statement. Though a bit heavy, it's just a perfect looking phone. Had just got a few buttons - Home button, Volume control, Silent mode & power/lock button. See it to believe it.
2.Touch-screen / Display :
The best touch screen ever. Neither has there been any phone with such touch sensitivity & nor will there be any phone with such amazing touch screen. It's super smooth. The display is a superb 3.5-inch widescreen Multi-Touch display with 480 X 320 resolution. Watching pictures & movies on it is a treat to your eyes.
The touch comes in very handy while typing, sending mails, playing games, etc. Never a problem in using it.
- Camera:
It has got a 3 MP Autofocus camera with built-in video recording feature. Camera quality is pretty decent. Pictures taken in proper light conditions are very nice. However there is no Flash-light in it so not convenient to use in dark. A very handy cam anyways.

- Audio/Video:
iPhone can play up to 30 hours of Audio & up to 10 hours of video. Apple is known for its iPod & iPhone uses the same for its multimedia purposes. The audio quality is just amazing. The speaker volume is little low but the headphones feedback is simply superb. Great sound output which will make your music livelier. Makes you fall in love with music all over again.
Video output is no less. Obviously it depends on the video quality being used, but the phone won't disappoint. Can play even HD videos in true HD quality. Have seen many movies on it & is a great companion while travelling. Video quality appears more appealing due to the display.
It's a one step solution for all your multimedia needs.
5.Data Connectivity:
As the name suggests, it has 3G connectivity. I have been using 3G service from Airtel since the last 2 months & it's pretty decent. Browsing, watching images, videos is really fast & one won't even need to wait or video streaming. Have used it with 2G service too & everything remains the same except speed.
Apart from that there is Bluetooth & Wi-Fi available. Bluetooth is mainly (by default) provided for Bluetooth hands-free. People crib that you can transfer files with Bluetooth in such a tone as if it's the only thing in the world for which phones are used. Why does one need Bluetooth when one can mail stuffs at faster rate..??? And anyways there are lots of Apps to install the Bluetooth version which can send & receive files (data transfer).
Then it has got Wi-Fi which is very responsive to signals & can be connected easily & works like using Broadband on your cell. All you need is a wireless modem & you are all set to use it with your iPhone. Depending on your net connection, Wi-Fi download speed can vary. I get around 400-500 Kbps on Wi-Fi connection.
6.Storage Capacity:
iPhone comes in different variants - 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB & 64 GB. It's internal memory & you can't add any more to it but with this mush memory in cell phone there doesn't arise the need for more.
7.Battery Back-up:
With normal usage(1-2 hours including all) per day, it works up to 2 days with full charge.
With Wi-Fi, 3g, 2e usage, the battery drains much faster. 100% charge comes down to 10-12 % in around 15 hours with heavy usage.
To increase battery capacity, one must switch off 3G, Wi-Fi, 2g conectio9ns when not is use & close all apps after using.
- Browsing & Mail:
iPhone has one of the best browsing & mail service in cell phones. Safari browser is good & one can surf net just like surfing it on a pc. page can be zoomed to max page size. Pictures, videos everything can be browsed easily.
Mail can carry heavy attachments which can be viewed on the phone very conveniently. Word, excel, PPT, pictures, all possible attachments can be viewed in mails. Sending mails is as easy too.
9.iTunes:
A very powerful & great feature of the iPhone coz of which it is so famous. With iTunes you can download any music, videos, news etc. Though I don't use it much it's a wonderful innovation by Apple & it's just awesome. It helps you organize all your media & you can download or purchase any media from the iTunes.
10.App-store:
Here comes the mammoth. The App store is a huge collection of all possible Apps available. Any & every App is available on the App store. Just search & download & it's ready to use. Most Apps are free & some are paid. But all Apps are simply great & once downloaded can be updated whenever there is an update available.
All apps in different category like 'games, entertainment, multimedia, connectivity, usability, education, etc, etc, etc' everything is available on it. Name it & it's there. The most most powerful feature of the iPhone. People who have used the App store & know how to use it will never curse it.
11.Cydia:
Just like App-store there is a Hacked application market named 'Cydia'. This is not a default feature of iPhone. One needs to jailbreak the iPhone to install Cydia. iPhones in UK & USA are locked to the cellular data you purchase it with. In order to use it with other cards, one needs to jailbreak & unlock the iPhone. So Cydia can be installed while jail-breaking.
Cydia is another power-packed application market, where most of the Paid Apps in Apple store are cracked by hackers & made available for public use free of cost. Again there are Paid applications in Cydia too but most of the Apps are free.
With App-Store & Cydia one can install all possible Apps. For eg - Facebook app, iMessenger for facebook, twitter app, yahoo messenger app, app to download you-tube videos, App to Download free music directly on phone, Browser app,etc etc etc etc etc ( I can keep writing but the list will never end). There are millions on Apps on both these markets combined.
I can go on & on with the features & ups of this phone but still it would be less to understand it's power.
12.Price:
It's said that luxury comes with a heavy price & so does the iPhone. Diferent models & variants have different price, here’s a list of a few I know. These are the approximate prices I know. Might vary with location & schemes.
Apple iPhone 2G (8 gb/16gb) (No more available I guess) - Rs.17, 000/20,000 (2007 price)
Apple iPhone 3Gs (8GB/16GB) - Rs.19, 000/22,000 (2011 price)
Apple iPhone 4 (16GB/32GB) - Rs.32,000/40,000 (2011 price)
Apple iPhone 4s (16gb/32/gb) - Rs.42, 000/47,000 (2011 price)
iPhone 4 & 4s have improved design, features & other special features too.
So if you have got the money & want a really nice phone to satisfy all purposes, just go for an iPhone. As the famous saying goes 'If you don't have an iPhone, you don't have an iPhone’:-P
