I live in Bangalore urban area. After watching all the ads and hype of portable 4g hotspot device from airtel, I finally decided on trying it out and the biggest mistake I did was not to check out reviews here or elsewhere!
Tethering from my mobile was seriously better than this stupid useless device! It's been like 4 days and I already want to throw it away!
2300 down the drain!
I took it online from snapdeal and got it in around 4 days.
I then brought an airtel sim from a retail shop and I later found out you have to buy a different sim card for the dongle.
I brought a sim card from the nearest airtel store and it was activated in a day which is very good and the customer care people were helpful and friendly too.
Note coming to 4g, you have to set it from your account which I didn't know until after 2 days I called up the customer care as the dongle would should only 3g and 2g networks.
Now is the real fun! It keeps on searching the network for 4g till you get irritated and turn it to 3g only on the settings.
And after say 5 minutes, it is again searching 3g network until you get frustrated and turn it to auto! Now it runs on 2g! Sorry! Now it doesn't run at all because the speed is so less that you get frustrated and turn off the device and pick the mobile to write a review on mouthshut using the bsnl 3g network from mobile!
I missed another point here which is funny as well as stupid! I have been using it for not more than 3 or for days with problems and the customer care guy says that I have used 805mb and 2.2gb of 4g is remaining! Wtf!
To my utter stupid head, I went to postpaid plan! Now I'm regretting badly and thinking to sell it or something:D
I would never ever recommend this to anyone! I have added a few images of the dongle with the review.
Note: In the images, it is connected to 4g and the speed is very low and the second image when it went from 4g(green light) to searching network after 2 minutes(red light)
