I ordered food today afternoon at 2.27 pm and was confirmed to reach me by 3.05 pm. Till 2-55 pm it showed on my laptop screen that order was not picked up from restaurant. I approached online chat only to receive -"thank you /how can I "help" you?/ sorry sir/ wait a min/ sorry/ it will take a while/./. and so on. Fed up myself called the restaurant directly. A person in a callous voice responded who couldn't understand a word of what I spoke to him in English. Then I conversed in Hindi with him, he asked me to wait a min and disappeared for ever from the line. However 5 min later I saw on screen the order was picked up and reached me at 3-35 pm. the chat man on screen appeared again to pester me to rate the chat- expecting an excellent rating for the useless service. Zomato has following negative points- 1) over committing to ward off competition but failing bitterly in service. 2) No control on restaurants serving and poor control over delivery boys' movements. Also the 50% free throught India through Dec 18 is a fraudulent promotion as usual of all service industry, It is applicable only to a handful of expensive and select restaurants.
