Right now I am frustrated, irritated and have taken a vow of not visiting the ready made food section of Star Bazaar, Koramangala. After being a loyal customer for last 3-4 years,I never expected such a shock waiting for me there.
After coming to electronic city,we became even more dependent on star bazaar,as quality products are available there. It was a shopping mall where all of our requirements were fulfilled. Till date they offer the freshest and cleanest poultry and meat products. The veggie section is also fresh and with lots of varieties. The food section offers the best ever grilled chicken in olive oil and freshly baked breads and cakes, along with sweets and savories like fries, sandwiches, fruit juices and lunch items, both veg and non veg. They have a good range of cosmetics, bath essentials, groceries, cleaning essentials, ready made snacks and staples. On the first floor, they have huge collection of dresses, bedroom and bathroom accessories, stationary, toys and kitchen essentials. Overall, the mall has almost everything needed for a family.
Being confident from our previous visits,we visited the place on a busy Saturday afternoon with my baby girl. Somehow there was no mad rush,so we went directly to the first floor for buying some dresses for our baby. While I was selecting the dresses,my mother was waiting in a corner so that nobody pushes her, especially while she was carrying my baby on her shoulder. Suddenly I heard my baby crying,I went to see what happened. Mom told, some passer by pulled on her leg,so she cried. I saw that spot turned red already. I couldn't help the situation, nobody has control over such incidents,so asked mom to be more careful. I asked my husband to bill the item when I came downstairs with mom and my baby. I had some more items to purchase from the grocery section.
While walking near the freezer where peas and corns were kept, mom suddenly winced in pain and stopped. When I came to see what happened,to my horror I saw one of her toe is badly scratched with a protruding metal fitting of that freezer and is bleeding. I stemmed the blood with my hankie and started asking for help. I felt absolutely disgusted when the person responsible for this section came and gave a cold shoulder. At this point I started shouting. One of the supervisor came and offered first aid. When we reached the place where the first aid box was kept,it was time for me to get angry again.I have never seen a store so shabbily kept! The stench of dead fish and rotten vegetables were so overpowering,we almost gagged. Next,in that first aid box, they had nothing other than a bottle of undiluted dettol and a pack of cotton. They offered to put that on the wound without diluting, which I didn't agree with. My daughter was gagging over the stench and screaming at the top of her lungs, so I took one piece of cotton from them, there was no place to dress the wound as it was a junction of corridor and a staircase! I thought of the sitting area where I can make her sit and then do something. As we were progressing towards that, mom suddenly stopped again. This time,it was another protruding metal part from rice rack, which had torn her new saree! I felt quite frustrated by now. We decided to end the shopping and go home. Mom was hungry, she wanted to eat something. I was feeling dizzy after seeing the blood. By now hubby was back and we thought of buying some food from the counter. We were just about to order when I saw one COCKROACH! It was happily dancing on a slice of pizza! We almost screamed, the girl in the counter simply removed that from display and asked us to proceed with our order. Not in this life! We ran away from there, trying hard not to puke!
If this is the condition of a Tata group owned shopping mall, we do not dare to go back again. Mom's toe got healed by now,but the impact of that dancing cockroach is severe.
