Baba Muktanand ke Ashram mein ek sthaan hai jahan likha hai – put off your shoes. Uske saath hi likha hai – also your ego.
Iska apna mehttav hai. Krodh ki bhanti ahankaar bhi aadmi ke sab guno par parda daal deta hai. Kisi ko dhan ka ahankaar hota hai, kisi ko gyaan ka, kisi ko santpan ka, lekin yeh ahankaar kisi ko bhi upar nahi uthata, neeche girata hai. Ped par phal aate hai to who jhukta hai, isi prakar vyakti ko bhi jhukna chahiye.
Swabhimaan achchha hota hai kintu vrathabhiman hey hota hai.
Translation : There is a place in Baba Muktanand’s Ashram where it is written – Put off your shoes. Along with that – also your ego.
It has its own significance. Apart from anger, ego also overshadows the qualities of a man. Some are proud of their money, some for their knowledge, but it never makes anyone better rather pulls them down. When a trees fructifies it bends down, similarly a person should also.
Self respect is good but ego is always harmful.
A few words from the personal diary of the writer whose book I am going to refer. Late Padmshri Yashpal Jain (01.09.1912 – 10.10.2000) was an ardent follower of Gandhian philosophy. His works in Hindi literature are vast. His thinking was reflected in his writings which he followed all his life. A down to earth personality who applied in his life what he wrote above.
Summer vacation is a time for leisure reading. Muskaan being a voracious reader has a good appetite for books, but only English. This month I picked up some books from my home which I read in my childhood, written in Hindi.
Rajkumar ki pratigya is a fairy tale. It is a small book of roughly 45 pages where prince, princess, fairies, demons, saints and all the adventure is present. It is a story of a prince who is hurt by the words of her sister in law, who challenges him to get the most beautiful princess “Rani Padmini”. The prince pledges to return back only if he is able to bring her with him. And his adventure begins. Since it is a fairy tale it has a happy ending but how and what all is in store for him on his journey is the whole story all about. The prince has well wishers, who are not only saving him but also giving a good moral lesson in a very interesting way.
The book is divided in small chapters and each chapter gives a small moral lesson. The division of story in small chapters helps the kid to take a break without getting a fatigue. The language is easy and interesting.
Apart from this book, I also recommend Naitik kathayein, Adarsh Kathayein, Amar Kathayein, Prerak Kathayein from the same writer. These books consist of small stories with good morals. These books have healthy literature, with a moral. The language is simple and they reflect the past reference of great people.
Happy reading.
