Govt.medical college calicut is a premier medical college in calicut, kerala established by 1957. Dr.VR Rajendran is principal of calicut medical college. It is affiliated to the university of calicut and kerala university of health sciences.
There have a lot of doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, pharmacists, lab technicians, xray technicians working under the medical college. But doctors services is not much good.
Last year I got an accident when I was riding my scooty. People took me to medical college calicut.Firstly they take me to casualty.because my condition was not much serious.but doctors didn't check me well.They gave me less priority.i had pain on leg and back bone .but they started to check me at last .there have many other patients those were not much serious than me.but they gave priority to them and finally one housesurgen came to check me instead experienced doctor. Finally house surgen said your leg bone have a small scratch.
This was my personal experience and they will provide paid medicine for me.if they want medicine they will wrote a receipt to outside.They will not provide free medicine, free xray, free scanning etc.They send me to outside lab for all check up .Actually private medical clinic is better than medical college.
Calicut medical college facilities are poor .There don't have a single accurate scanning machine and I got cruel attitude by nurses and nursing assistants. Surroundings of medical college is dirty and fusty.
I will give four out of ten for overall performance of calicut medical college
