Its the classic case of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
My kudos to the company who made the ad - Smriti Irani was so convincing and boy I rushed to the market to get myself one of these and save my bottled water bills.
But unfortunately, the product didn't turn out the way I imagined a company like Eureka Forbes would introduce in the market.
In just a couple of months - the top filter clogged and no matter how much you cleaned it - the water didn't flow through it.
I asked the dealer, from whom I purchased it - he suggested that I should soak it overnight and then rinse it with warm water and some mild detergent - it did work - but it wasn't totally clean - I'd say that earlier I had just 5% flow - now it was 70% - but NOT 100%.
The replacement would have set me back by 75 bucks - so, I decided to carry on with the one I had - only to be struck by another problem.
I saw that the water level indicator is stuck and I noticed that there were red ants in it and were clogging it. Every household has ants, since just before monsoons start ants are busy collecting food
all households - [I don' t like getting pest
control done in my house, I believe that if those chemicals can kill
ants and other insects - then surely they will affect us in the long
run - chemicals as chemicals afterall].
Well, I tried to clean that as well, but surprisingly they had reached inside the level indicator and I had no way of getting them out - strange, how did they reach there is still a mystery to me - But, since they were not in the water - I said nevermind.
And now one fine morning the water stopped flowing into the lower chamber - whoa, I cleaned the filter once a week, as informed in the owner's manual - there was no apparent reason for it to stop - but it did.
Now I thought would be a good time to call in the service, as the product carries a 1 year warranty - so, I called the service number 022-3988-3333 and I registered my complaint - the executive on the phone was very polite and I was assured that the complaint will be handled at the earliest.
I was given a complain number: XXXX-8325 on Aug 20, 2008 - Well, I am writing this review on August 30, 2008 after calling Eureka Forbes for 10 times and being assured that the complaint will be attended on top priority basis every single time.
I am to totally disappointed in the product and the brand that is Eureka Forbes - never again in my life am I buying a product from them and I would suggest that if you are reading this review - heed my advice and keep your friends and family informed about this company's products.
I am back to my bottled water - and probably start using this filter as water dispenser for my bottled water.
I think they should change their tagline: "Shudh Paani - Har Maa Ki Zimendaari, Par Eureka Forbes ki Service ne pher dala paani".
Stay away from this product!
