I had only owned Honda bikes(CD100 and CBZ) in the past many years. Never had issues with them. The service was great too. Recently I bought discover 125 from Popular Bajaj. Very big mistake. I paid them in cash and they were giving me this bike with torn seat covers. Got that replaced. When I drove out, it made a strange ’drag’ noise. Brought it back to the dealer to discover it was the loose chain rubbing against the chain guard cover! The mileage has always been pathetically in 30’s.
Hoped it would improve after first or 2nd service. But no. It still at best gives something around 42 kmpl! Adding to the owes is that different bolts in this bike have a tendency to to just fall apart. Sometime over the last week one bolt at its engine area has managed to part from the bike.
The service at Popular Bajaj on the Bannerghatta road is very poor as well. My fuel guage keeps swaying~30-40%. I demonstrated it to the staff at the service center and they just can’t fix it. My reserve indicator doesn’t function and they can’t fix it. The fuel lever is indifferent to what position it is in! And yes, they can’t fix it.
This is certainly an expensive lesson in avoiding the crappy Bajaj products. Pls. save your time, money, energy, and sanity; avoid Bajaj and pick the more reliable competitors.
