Lunching at Sasuma. Review on Sasuma, Nanpura, Surat

Sasuma is located on a crossroad which is hard to miss. The approach to the restaurant is by a steep staircase that takes you to the restaurant premises, as it is on the first floor. But of course there is also a rickety lift that can take you there. Anyhow it is worthwhile once you get there. The first impression that I had about the place was its spaciousness and brightness, as they have not resorted to subdued lighting, which is the case with some of the restaurants. The tables are numerous and you can have your choice of sitting space. The food there is not just tasty but at the same time like home food and not spicy. The fare is authentic gujarati thali. The place is open for lunch and dinner and both times they offer only Gujarati thali. If you are looking for snacks or south Indian food this is not the place. They also follow strict lunch timings, as the restaurant closes at three in the afternoon and opens later for dinner. The portion of food items is not an issue, as the food there is unlimited. Some of the desert items that is worth a try are aamras, fruit custard, basundi and khajur halwa. A popular combination is a fulsome aamras with small, crispy puris. Aamras especially is a summer delight and a must-try. The service is amazing and quick, with a number of waiters attending on you. The hospitality and freshness of the food items needs a special mention. Sasuma guarantees a wholesome meal after which you go home happy and satiated. You can even round it up with meetha paan as there is a kiosk selling paan just outside the restaurant. Bon appetit.
