Well it was summer 2000 when I had finished by X board Exams and enjoying my vacation when we first decide to visit this Theater for watching the movie "Alaipayuthey" for the evening show.
Note that - this Review is based on year 2000 and not the latest.
So we took our Brand new Santro and drove in to the theater. My dad has probably pre-booked for the show(i Dont Remember properly) and we found out our spot.
*The Theater Design** -
The theater was and is a fully open theater. The theater was also depicted in the Rajinikanth's "Shivaji" movie(the Car fight Scene). - There were two Sections of the Theater - The open Car parking type and the Pavilion watches for Bikers.
The Cars could be parked in rows and one after another, leaving a grass land space between the cars, which acts are the sitting and watching place.
The best thing in theater was - U could bring ur own food and eat the food of ur own style while watching the movie in free style u want. Sitting or even laying on the grass land.
Food ordering services was also there. So that we can order the foods for the food courts inside the theater complex and they will deliver to ur car when we ask to.!
The theater has only one screen and only runs about 2 or 3 shows starting at 6:30 pm after dark.
So we parked our Santro at our spot and we laid up our floor mat and settled down to watch the movie. Thou it was Summer, in the evening it was cool enough becoz the theater is located right next to the beach on the ECR.
After about 60% of the movie, we opened our food packages which we bought from our home and finished our dinner rit there itself. That was the best thing which we loved there, because we felt it was like home wer we could watch both the movie as we as have the dinner.
The best time to visit this Theater is in the beginning of the summer and especially in the winters. This Drive in theater is not recommended to visit in peak summers and in rainy seasons.
Now we dont visit this theater anymore because the climatic conditions in Chennai hav become worst. Even the nights have become hot and air is very polluted too. And so now we only prefer to visit the closed theaters like Mayajaal at ECR which is close by to this theater.
I also heard that, this theater has become very dirty as of now..
So **overall**, Watching movie at Prarthana Beach Drive theater was a great experience. But this theater is not that recommended as of now.!
