Horrible hell of an experience

Infrastructure:

Medical Care:

Staff Attitude:

First night:

I arrived to my room with no one informing me what to do. No one introduced themselves and informed me as to how the bed works, where the bell is, the phone. There were no clothes to change into or a towel to shower. I asked for toilet paper and paper towels to dry hands about 5 times. Toilet paper only came the next day, hand towel didn't even come.

There was no water for me to drink.

Twin share other person and guest very sick and coughing and male guest was snoring all night. Male guest in a female twin share.

I had a different nurse almost everytime who came inall night they blasted the lights on without warning, storm in, and start pricking, taking blood, doing things to my body without warning or informing me whats going on or explaining what they are doing and for what.

They had taken blood tests for tests I had already done- had they asked me I would have told them. Got billed for it as well. I basically slept with one eye open afraid of then that door opens if they are coming for me and what their going to do.

First night I wore my own clothes to bed.

Operation day:

Was supposed to be 10am, did not happen till 1pm. I had been fasting since 12am.

.

Sonommaprahy doctor was extremely rough with the markings- basically stabbing my chest with a pen wiggling it around as I screamed. Had to endure this 4 times.

Porter didn't check to see and started moving the wheelchair while my feet were on the ground and the foot pedals were up. She didn't take the extra step to see if it was safe to move.

On the way to the operation recovery room, they banged my moving bed into a door twice. I told them they need to be careful and watch out- and they laughed!

I keep asking them to be careful, go slow. Me as a patient shouldn't have to ask the nurses or doctors to be careful.

Traumatic Experience:

I was in a lot of pain immediately after surgery and no one was listening when I said Im in pain. Even though I was screaming and banging the rail on the bed, asking for help. 3-4 nurses were standing there ignoring me looking at files not saying anything and then finally one who was with a different patient came over and spoke to me and yelled at other nurses for not paying attention to their patient. The thing in my wrist for IV was maybe put in wrong and every time they injected something in it burned an stung for a while and I'd scream. Eventually that same nurse sat there and massaged my forearm till the pain was gone. This whole experience in the recovery room was traumatic and scary and felt like waking up from a bad dream in hell.

In regards to the operation- no one briefed me on what's going on, time, procedure, what to expect, how I'm going to feel etc. At the point of being transported to the Operation Theater, I didn't trust anyone. I had not seen my surgeon doctor, he did not visit my room once(we also got billed for a doctor visit). Once they put me on the operating table I had everyone stop. I wanted to see the doctor first before they began. I was very scared, not knowing if he was there or not as I have no trust in this hospital. He came a few minutes later and we spoke for a few seconds then I was knocked out. This was a very scary and traumatic experience. Very sad.

Other notes:

After all the pain they said the next dose is at 6:30 pm and water 6:40 pm. My mouth was so dry and I was in pain and counting down the seconds to those moments. 6:35 pm no one comes. I ring the bell, 10 min later someone comes and says they have to go ask, still no water no pain meds. And its 7 pm.

How am I supposed to trust in this care?

The same nurses keep speaking to me in Hindi when I told them I only speak English which they know.

Sometimes they mumble things under their breath or to each other in Hindi with attitude.

Whenever I ring my bell it takes at least 10 min.

They also keep coming in and giving me things without letting me know what it is or it does- no explanation.

I would never recommend this hospital to anyone.

I discharged myself early as I couldn't stand being there any longer. They wanted me an extra night to check my wound in the morning and so I left that night, went home and came back the next morning.

We picked this hospital because of the reputation, credibility as I wanted the best care. It was horrible. Why are the prices so high for such horrible treatment? Had I known, I would have gone somewhere else.

Overall the nurses are rough, aggressive, lack empathy, dont care. They dont smile, they arent friendly or kind. Not a single one told me their name.

I kept asking them to be careful with me they are not. The patient shouldnt have to ask. They are rough aggressive, dont warn you when theyre about to stab you or explain things.

They would banged my bed multiple times and it hurts when the bed moves suddenly after an operation.

We had made complaints to my assistant doctor and the head nurse. The head nurse brought one of the junior nurses in to listen to whats going on, and everything went in one ear and out the other. Had no recollection of food to be ordered when the older senior nurse told her to, as this conversation was about the lack of care- she didnt call for the food. 11:15 am asked her again at 1:15 pm food has not come.

Tired of repeating myself and having to ask over and over to be cared for

I didn't trust them to come on time for pain meds or the bell for them to come, so I go to the desk to remind them.

No post surgery instruction, what not to do, shower, movement etc I had to ask which was much later.

Also the hand operated bed broke and didn't lift up.

Theres so much more to this experience and I would never recommend anyone go to this hospital. As an NRI(non-indian resident) I also got charged an extra 25% for this crap treatment by staff and nurses. This is supposed to be Indias top hospital! This is why I chose it. My surgeon was great. But the nurses and staff were all horrible, the worst I've ever been treated at a hospital. I will never go back here.
