My mother was a patient of KiMS for the past many years, she was under the care of Dr Vijayalekshmi, in her hands my mother was safe.
In March, mother had a UTI and stenting was done under sedation. We were informed about a 7 mm stone which they didn't remove saying takes time and can't be removed under sedation. Then told to remove it when they remove stent.
After 1 month we went there to remove stent and stone, they took a scan but didn't say anything about results.
In surgery day morning just 5 mnts before leaving for surgery, Urologist came and informed that they are planning to do under GA. We were shocked as mother is old and with moral health issues of her age. Before even I open my mouth he left saying Anaesthetist will talk to you, he came told something vaguely, quickly and nothing was clear and he left within a minute.
During stenting, I met a lady doctor who talked calmly to me saying she will be there with mother full time. I was so relieved. This male Anaesthetist was completely different, he made me more worried.
Postoperative care was very poor, Except antibiotics, drip and pain killers, nobody checked her vitals, no doctors came to check her, I told them to try and make her walk- they told not today. If they tried may have identified that she is sinking. We thought GA effects, and painkillers were making her sleepy.
Clopilet was not stopped, they were least bothered about it.
During stenting explanation, when I asked about how much for stent removal, I was told 70000 rupees. After we met Dr Sudin Urologist and one lady charges increased to more than double.
We all need money to survive, hospital need money, take it from patients, but make sure that you are giving the best care possible.
My mother died that night itself. She was talking to me normally on surgery day, now I am left alone with no one to talk to me at home, nobody to wait for me, nobody to check if I am ok or not and nobody to pray for me.
My mother lost her life for a small surgical procedure, carelessness, GREED, neglect, ignorance and don't care attitude killed my mother.
If stenting can be done under sedation, stent removal can be done the same way, no need for GA. And there was NO stone in the last scan before stent removal. For just a stent removal they gave her GA for an old lady.
You people don't know what you did to me. I just hope each and every one of you who are responsible for my poor mother's death go through the same pain at some point in your lives.
I will never forget and forgive those who are responsible for my mother's death.
