List of replacements I remember having done since 2007:
Speedo Cable - twice( I don't know why, the second one came for just 1 and half year).
Clutch Cable - After last service as I found the outer was cut near the steering fork.
Battery in 2010 beginning. Rs. 650.00(1 and half year warranty piece) should be AMCO.
The Petrol Tank Lock Set Rs. 175.00+ labour.
Fork Oil in 2010 or 11 with Fork Oil Gaskets( O ring, whatever you call them) since I admit the bike was little rash driven occassionally.
Carburetter Air screw was changed once as the same got jammed somewhere and the mileage came down to 16 kmph(!) TRUE.!
Tyres are still good.(Obviously, just 15 k kms.)
Nothing more that I remember of .
SPEED and PICKUP
Speed Thrillsm but kills(since 2009). Now I normally ride @ 35-45 kmph to get mileage with my faily. On rare urgent cases, I ride ALONE @ max 70, very rare. Pickup is awesome for this little horse. I do not have technical knowledge about bhp's of engine, so please excuse. The topmost speed I've tried was 95 kmph(2007), but please do not try that. Enjoy between 40-60 kmph. Urgent occassions, rev till 80 kmph max, u and ur engine both r safe.
BRAKING: Braking is very good until you know how to brake your bike and you are in controllable speed of 40-50. Past 60 kmph, I won't gurantee anything.
SAFE: Of course, the bike is for moderate speed riders, so it is safe. Even Pulsar 220 CC and Bullet 350 CC are safe only when you are able to control your bike.
== CONS OF SPLENDOR PLUS 2005==
Service not upto the mark as discussed. Service mechanics keep you persuading to replace parts to have their spares sold for undeserving reasons. You need to be careful. No wonder even if they steal good parts from the bike and replace with old damaged one.
Another big CONS or demerit is the head light. I'm forced to say that as I experience that every weekend when I come back from market(vegetables) with my wife and kid in semi dark and dark times(around 7-8 pm). The problem is when you close the throttle, the headlight power goes absolutely down and you can't even see a ditch orpothhole ahead you. It's completely unsafe unless and until you are well aware of the roads. I manage that way only as I use the same roads every week. This can be looked into by Hero Motocorp. Hope they are reading.
Braking: Can't say it's a CON. But when I've my wife as pillion and kid in front, I had experienceed difficulties twice in stopping the bike to avoid a crash. Once when a buffalo ran in between, again when a cyclist came zig zagging the road in dark without sense. But however I managed to stop. The reason is when the bike is loaded with a 70+70+13 kg, it feels difficult to stop due to f= m.a physical rule. m is mass and a is accelaration.
Similarly I was bringing a 20 litre water can on the petrol tank alone in the bike @ less than 30kmph. The roads were more than half blocked by cyclres and bikes. Suddenly a 5-6 year old girl ran across. I tried my best to stop with front and rear brakes, but it was too late. The pathetic thing was the my wheel didn't hit her. She hit on the wheel( not in the front, but on the side) and fell down. You can very well imagine the situation. I couldn't even get down of the bike immediately. But fortunately the kid was safe.
From then on, I'm careful with braking when bike is heavily loaded with pillions or luggage.
Hope this wouldn't be boring and Splendor is always the king. Brakes are issues everywhere even in disk brakes, if you are not a good braker, you fall.
So I recomment Splendor, but do ensure that the mechanics do the right job at least until the warranty period. Then you can find a trustworthy maechanic to take care of ur bike.
Thanks Readers.
