I am writing to report a case of fraud involving a logistics company that identified itself as “DHL Cargo Logistics”(not affiliated with DHL Express).
I am seeking urgent assistance to retrieve my scooty, which I believe is being withheld under deceptive pretenses.
Details of the Incident:
Service Inquiry: Recently, I searched online for logistics services to transport my scooty from Faridabad to Chennai. Shortly after, I received calls from representatives claiming to be from “DHL Cargo Logistics” and offering their services.
Service Agreement: The representative initially quoted a price of Rs. 2800 plus GST, which was supposed to include all door-to-door delivery services and packaging. After negotiation, the final amount agreed upon was Rs. 2500, inclusive of all taxes and charges. I was assured that this was the full and final amount, with no additional fees.
Scooty Pickup: I provided my address for pickup, and the next morning, a person arrived to collect the scooty. I have the individual’s photo, a video, and a copy of his Aadhar Card, which I am attaching for identification.
Unexpected Charges: After the pickup, I contacted the representative for a tracking ID and an invoice. Two days later, I received an invoice for Rs. 9079, which was far above our agreed price. This invoice included unexpected charges for packing staff, packing materials, transportation, and various surcharges. I expressed my refusal to pay this amount and requested the immediate return of my scooty.
Refusal to Return the Scooty: The representative is now refusing to release my scooty unless I pay Rs. 9079, claiming that it has already been shipped.
