AIRTEL PREPAID MOBILE PHONE SERVICES. Among all the cell service providers M/S Bharti Airtel Ltd, provides its Mobile services to a large section of India's population. Having sponsored a number of Reality T V shows in partnership with other companies have accumulated lot of earnings from its cell service subscribers. I am one of its oldest subscribers.
I have already written two reviews about how this serrvice provider is day by day squeezing its custopmers and taking undue advantage of its populaity because inspite of all its shortcomings it has been spreading its wings.
Having sufferred a lot as a Post Paid cell service subscribers I decided to change to its Prepaid Cell services. I contacted their Customer Care at Mohalli and requested them to change my Number to Prepaid.I was advised to contact their local Airtel Centre alongwith documents for Identification and a photograph. Due to injury to my leg I am not in a position to walk .
I explained them my health condition that in addition to leg injury I also have Cererbral Spondylittis and requested them if there could be some way so that I am notrequired to undertake the strenous journey to the local office. But I was told that I must personally go there.
After lot of problems, on 5-10-2009 I reached their office (M/S BHARTI INFOCOM, AIRTEL RELATIONSHIP CENTRE, 112-A, Shastri Nagar, Near G.T.B. Hospital, Ludhiana). I carried with me-the last bill of Airtel Post Paid connection. my Ration Card, my Driving Licence, my Voter Card and Passport alonwith two copies of photograph.
A new application form for Prepaid connection was got signed from me. I asked the dealing hand , Ms Harpreet Kaur (her cell no. 9815555678) as to which of the Ids would she take. She selected my driving licence out of the lot.She asked to get the same photocopied. She took Rs. 100/ as Cash fee for converting to Prepaid and Rs.100/ cash towards the bill amount of Postpaid which monthly cycle ends on 10th of each month.
My phone is dead sice 5th and all calls including SMS are stopped. The Customer Catre Mohalli says we are yet to receive papers for Prepaid request from their Ludhiana centre. The phone was to be activated by 8th October as per their own message. For the last three days I have been frantically trying to get my call through to know the position of my case.
Just today about 11AM the local office called at my Landline and told me that my Driving Licence had expired and so another Id proof is required.( In fact I had renewed my driving licence recently and both licences were in my purse. I handed one of the two w/o knowing that the old licence got to their hands. After finishing all the formalities, before leaving their office I enquired if everything was O.K. And I was told that everything was O.K.)I
She further told me that the Id must reach by today evening or tomorrow morning at the latest otherwise my number shall be permanently cancelled. I had already deposited Rs.200/- against my prepaid number about two days back. I told her I can not move out. I was told that she cant do anything and if the number is saved then fresh ID must reach immediately. I called my sdon from his office and sent all Ids (like the 1st day)>She took photocopy of the recent Driving Luicence and told my son to go home and ring "123". I did the same but so far there is no action regarding activating service on my Prepaid Connection.
All efforts to contact the local office on phone have not been attended. I had to save my Current Cell No. because all my clients have that number and I am not accessible to them. This shows that the leading Cell Service Provider has , in its office employees who are indifferent to their customers and have not even the courtesy to take their calls. I would advice my friends to be ready to face problems if you desire good service from AIRTEL.
