Story:

If you, like me enjoy crosswords, then you are in for a treat. Ioccasionally take a break and in future it looks like I will be payingmore visits to this site.

On-site you’ll be able to tackle a brand new challenge, which I believe to be the

‘World’s First’

Ok. So-what auldmac, I hear you cry, we’ve all seen crosswords before, what’s so special about this one?

What’s special about this one is that it is made up in 3 Dimensions instead of the usual two.

The3D Crossword is like a rotating ‘cube-like structure’, on your screen, challenging you with clues that correspond to words running DOWN, ACROSS and " THROUGH " the blocks of 3 Dimensional cubes.

Inorder to try this tricky puzzle, you will have to download a piece offree, self installing, software from the site which allows you tonavigate round the cubes, but this only takes a minute, and isguaranteed to be ‘secure’

This puzzle is a demonstrationprototype for you to try and further puzzles will be available soon, asand when available from the Helicon Group UK, who also publish TheWorld famous, Hutchinson Almanac.

Are you up to the challenge? Be warned, they advertise on-site that they will do all they can, to make tricky crosswords.

A small sample of the mind bending questions you may face include, and I quote:

Do you know how long the gestation period is for a duck-billed platypus?

Are you aware of the'generic' word for plants that grow in water or water-logged conditions?

( I am sure the good friend ‘lamorna’ will know the answer to that one;-))

Can you complete Henry Thoreau's quote:

'The mass of men lead lives of quiet.'?

or know who said:'A rose is a rose is a rose'?(Hint: it wasn't Shakespeare)!

The only fault that I can find with the site an

d indeed with the'puzzle' is that the ‘cubes’ are a bit on the ‘small’ side, but I am sure this will be improved upon!

If you fancy a mind bending 3D trip, then check out
