Almost she was on the verge of crying. The eyes got wet, and the tear drop was ready to roll down her cheeks. Her lips shivered and struggled for cry but she gulped it all and sported a smile . She came and sat on my laps. I could hardly imagine what was going on within her. A girl so small yet so strong! I condoled her and tingled her to change her mood. She instantly smiled and broke into a laughter that would make a troubled heart feel light!
Thud Thud Thud! Punches and slaps to Rujul! Aliza could not bear this. It was her birthday! It was her house! It was her brother! But Rujul was sitting in my laps!
"That is my brother! Get out of my house ". I could not control myself anymore. I was surprised by the level of tolerance and sacrifice this little girl made just keep her friend happy and what she got in return? A rain of insulting slaps! She did not fight back! But I did for her! It was a ritual in our home not to hit or scold the children on their birthday. They are the queens and Kings on the house for that day. They can do whatever they want and they can get whatever they wished. But I couldn't stop myself! I slapped Aliza.
She made a scene and my brother came in running. He shouted me to touch a girl as delicate as a flower and treat her that way. I asked him, then isn't Rujul also a delicate girl who is been smitten by Aliza so many times? Isn't she a blooming flower?
He told me," Stupid Fool! Leave them alone and come with me!" I reluctantly said," No! If she could hit Rujul so badly in front of me, what will she do in my absence!"
My brother said," Just do what I say". I had no choice when my mother joined the party!
My brother told me then," Look! Aliza is acting weird because we are there. She does not understand the value of friends. She thinks she does not need Rujul as we are there to play with her. When you leave them by themselves, there will be no one else to play with for Aliza . And so she herself would ask Rujul to play. They are children. You don't understand their psychology! You dumb."
May be I didn't understood their psychology. But I knew that Rujul was not an ordinary child. Not even five minutes had passed and things started happening as my brother said.
I realized and learnt a lesson from this. People don't understand the values of their loved ones especially parents who keep sacrificing things for them until the world ditches them and they are left all alone and then find a way back to parents who have been insulted and rejected number of times by them but still accepts them with no regrets! Rujul had that love in her chest embedded by God. God knew that not everyone is capable of such a noble gift and so He made Rujul special!
