For my baby who is half way past his second year, TV is starting to be an obsession, when I say it, I have to say its not television that is the problem but Tom and jerry which he just cant resist. I remember the good old days when I was also a Tom and Jerry addict but since he hasnt started talking great yet, I decided to introduce him to the world of rhymes although I was absolutely clueless what to download. The first try gave me a set of 100 rhymes that actually put my baby to sleep and he definitely wasnt looking forward to see it.The second one was an Indian version, and although some of them were good, there wasnt any punch to the rhymes or songs. The third search gave me Wiggles the Pop which turned out to be some British TV show. Amazon users five starred it, so I decided to set my baby down his chair and thought that I would let him watch the show. But what happened was I actually ended up next to his chair watching the show leaving my husband to wonder what his son and wife at the same time was so enthusiastic about.(oh!! He got addicted the next day)
Now the show by the name of wiggles have a number of series of around 45 minutes or more, each one based on a specific theme. There are four wiggles by the name Anthony aka the blue wiggle, Greg later replaced by Sam(the yellow wiggle), jake(the purple wiggle) and Marie(the red wiggle). They entertain the audience with songs and rhymes and stories. There are other friends like Dorothy the dinosaur, Captain Feathersword the friendly pirate and many others who share the same importance in the show.
My first experience was with Pop go the wiggles(the best part and a part about rhymes only) and it was a delightful experience. The show was about 45 minutes and comprised solely of rhymes and included the ones like incy wincy spider, English Garden, London Bridge is falling down, The story of sleeping beauty in a short rhymy song, mulberry bush, brother john and much more. The tunes are sucha joy to listen to and the picturisation is perfect; so perfect that it will even capture the attention of grown ups. They had put hard work into it and not just a mere adjustment. there are dances, there are stories and there are small kiddy jokes. Actions and moves accompany the rhymes and the imagination of these guys are just wonderful. The other series I have watched are Racing to Rainbow, a story where the four wiggles try to go to the end of a rainbow and find out what is there at the end, Wiggles go bananas (all about animals) where Kylie Minogue is featured as a guest star.
The cast is one thing that I definitely have to mention. They give a feeling of warmth, I mean all child friendly faces and definitely brings a smile upon the faces of the children. I mean when I saw those I exclaimed “Wow!!these guys really look so affectionate” . The way they sing and tell stories make you think that they are doing it for their children and the songs are catchy and so are the stories. Everything presents somethingto learn so that not even an episode goes to waste. The entire show is sold on DVDs and is a must buy if you have kids in the age range two to ten. Now everyday my kiddo is so excited to see them and only them by the way and I am happy about it and am guilty about joining him sometimes to watch Wiggles the Pop which is my favourite, oh who can resist the rhymes.
