Recently I came across a review on sonodyne speakers, so it inspired me to write a few words for this good quality of Indian speakers. First of all this brand is not well known "Mass market" product. Most of the latest equipments are available through the exclusive outlet and these are also based in major metropolitons, 1 or 2 showrooms per city. This was a well known Indian brand from 80's and was very famous till the early 90's a little before the advent of silly looking compact systems in India. So as a company they concentrated on customized commercial solutions during the time of early 90's till 2004/2005.
Now the company has revived itself and has started selling products that are contemporary as well as modern in it's appeal. Now coming back to the speakers and the main review. I am using these set of speakers from last three years and this was my first sonodyne purchase. I find them good in quality and flawless in performance. I have combined these with Nad amplifier and CD player with monster interconnects and monster speaker cables.
Some minor flaws: Outer design in the model that I own but now they have overcome it in their latest model sonus2605v2 . Sound quality is little sharp maybe because I have combined it with Nad. With some other amplifiers like cambridge audio the sharpness will reduce. one can audition these with their amplifier before making the purchase.
On all other parameters I find these good value for money and I am also proud that in India we make such good quality speakers. However I would like to mention over here that these are not entry level speakers and are priced at 26, 000/- for a pair and can take power load of 130rms at 8 ohms per speaker. A similar set of speakers from other well known foreign brands comes at a much higher price.
So that's it for the review. Anyone looking for good quality speakers for their separate component home system must give it a try before taking a final call on famous imported brands available in India.
