We had been to Goa in October 2012. The airport is very far away from the main city and the taxi drivers fleece you. Please take the taxi from the taxi counter(Government) outside the airport, and not the one in the departure lounge(Akbar, I think!). They charge at least 20% more.
Every sightseeing place is really far way from the rest. so lot of travel involved. The beaches are awesome. Colva is a good place to shop other than Anjuna, I heard.
The best thing to do, would be to stay put in a resort for the trip, go sightseeing on the last day and take the flight/train back.
