Science says dreams are the reflection of our subconscious mind. This is a very dull definition. Dream is something which helps us to visualize something which, in other ways, not possible for us to feel. Some situations, some incidents, some desires, and some sadness which in otherwise we could never feel without dreams. It takes us to the wonderland where only Alice could go. Now how do you feel if someone does a trick of magic and makes you Alice and takes you to the wonderland? And that too when you are awake? If only we could find such a magician! Is it too much to ask for? The answer is no, you can still find those fairy tale magicians in the 21st century. Last Sunday I was under the spell of one of them when his magic took me to a world which I thought never exists. The “magic” is the movie Avtar and the magician is James Cameron. Last time I was spellbound to this limit was when I watched Jurassic Park!!!
Somehow I missed the movie when first released about a year ago. Everyone was saying it was a great movie and later on I came to know that it won 3 Oscars and the first film to gross more than $2 billion etc. etc. I thought it would be really a great movie and was bit sorry as I missed it. But fortunately it was again released last week. Yes, now the DVD is also out but I did not want to reduce the movie to 21’’ without the 3D effect. Last Sunday I got a couple of complimentary tickets for “We Are Family” and I was dead against to go for that movie even though it won’t cost me a penny. But somehow I reached the multiplex I saw they are also screening Avtar, 3D at the same time. I thought hell to the free pass I will go for this movie which I missed last time.
I was just mesmerized and spellbound and ecstatic!!! What I was watching is unbelievable. I was feeling like Alice in the wonderland. This is not a movie, it is more than that. It’s magic. As it is not a review, I am not going to the technical part, but everything I was experiencing was out of the world. You will have the same feeling while standing in front of the Niagara Falls or Burj Khalifa. I am sure anyone who watched this movie will agree with me. Though this movie takes you to fantasyland with mind boggling special effects, still it conveys a very true and real-time story. The story of every weak, helpless, harmless, and suppressed society, race, nation and their survival battle against the powerful, greedy, selfish, rich society, race, nation. While I was watching the movie, though it was a science sci-fi, I was surprised how much it resembles with our current state of nation; I could relate the story with the contemporary issue with the tribal belt of our country and their struggle. Truly, we need an Avtar!!!
