Attestation phobia

By: chalojai | Posted Oct 17, 2011 | General | 6175 Views

Not only me, I think many people have got this particular phobia when it comes about attestation of some kind of documents. Whenever I have to get some documents attested by a government officials,a cold sweat runs down my spine. I know very well which kind of ride is waiting for me. Believe it or not, The kind of questions asked and the proof of documents required are endless, and most of the time,is not at all possible to answer or to present. It's an absolute nightmare.

Unfortunately, today was the day when I had to get my photo attested for some form submission purpose. I went to a nationalized bank first,as I had an account there and before also they have done the attestation for me. I was rejected without mentioning any proper reason.A post office was nearby,I tried my luck there,as I knew post masters are sometimes Gazetted rank holders. Well,no luck again, they didn't do it there. Next visit was the local police station. They behaved very well (quite unexpected, isn't it?) and told I have to go to the government hospital for this. Well, No prob. I went to the Head post office first which was on the way. No luck, they asked me to go to another one which was some 10 Km away! Next came the hospital. After much search,I found a lady who told I have to meet the MO (Medical officer) for this. Now,where is he/she? No answer. A doctor was attending a delivery case there almost in the open,I asked him and he told me to wait. But seeing the conditions of the patient and the way they were handling it,I was horrified. Is this the condition of a government hospital? Oh god! I could not bear the stench for more than 10 minutes. MO was not there, nobody could tell me when he/she will come. So I left. This was almost 1 pm,and I was getting hungry as I didn't have time for breakfast. Then one College came on my way. Okay,I thought of asking them. They made me wait for almost half an hour without any results. Then their next doubt was, where is the original? Think. I told them politely, well,I am myself the original one as MY photo had to be attested. They got some kind of doubt,I don't know the actual nature of it and finally was rejected!

Today I've got a bad luck,I decided. On the way I checked two more banks,They told they have no Gazetted officers,so they can't sign. Well, that makes sense. But In the next bank the Manager told me if I have an account he can sign. After much exercise, when I got my account number to show him,He made another excuse,he can't verify it without passbook. Moreover,he tried to detach the photo from the form to see, what he only knows! I was almost fuming now, Heights of rules and regulations yaar, just for verifying and signing a photo so much dilemma! It seems they have swallowed the rule books line by line, that's all, nobody wants to apply the brain to understand a single thing. After all,I was not going to plant a bomb somewhere,I was going to write a simple examination! I produced my ID card from University,I showed them all my IDS like pan card, driving license and all,but...............................! After checking two more banks after that meeting with the LAWFUL manager, A electric supply board office, BSNL and another post office,I almost lost my hope. It's not being done. My exam is approaching nearer, if things go this way I have to drop it this time and appear next year. I started towards my home with a dampened spirit. Whole day was wasted without any work, that was hurting me much. Then I saw a tiny govt. health clinic. I went there and after waiting for 20 minutes the MO appeared. After answering all weird questions and producing all documents, finally I got the sign (half invisible) and the stamp on the photo. The way the doctor was looking at me after knowing that I am a psychologist,I didn't think of staying there after a single minute my form was signed! Maybe she was expecting a scratch or a bite from me! After the whole day's struggle I managed to get the attestation.
